Malpractice in LDCE examination in railways exposed by use of RTI Act

Submitted by rajiv tiwary

The personnel department of the eastern railway had conducted LDC Examination for the post of commercial apprentice in grade 55000-9000,criteria for which was

  1. Less than 40 years of age
  2. Minimum qualification was "Graduate"
  3. Selection only on the basis of written test.

The said examination was conducted on 22/07/2007.

I had written my examination well but their was strange thing in the 2nd question paper. It had the heading 'Answer any 6 questions. All question carries equal marks' and the full marks was 100. I had the doubt that the selection committee was going to play foul. The results were declared on 05/02/2008 and as expected, I didnt figure in the list of sucessful candidates. But the strange thing in the list was that a I saw the name of the candidate who was unable to spell the word 'commercial apprentice'. And that day i decided that I would take help of the RTI and I did.

The reply said that i had got 132 in the written papers and the said candidate had secured 131. I was rejected even after getting a marks more than that candidate. But I feel shame that I work in such an organisation who does wrong to their employees in such a way that even even after getting the proof they are not ready to give me the seat I deserved.

Its a pity that I have to work in such an organisation. The orgqnisation which boasts of giving such huge profits and the minister of the organisation busy playing the tune of success and profts. But nobody cares to care for the employess working in it.

But I would certainly like to thank the man who coined the idea of 'RIGHT TO INFORMATION',it helped me lot to regain my self respect. I think that this right is much more than any other right in this country.,even more than the right to life!!

I have moved to various departments taking my plea, like the central vigillance commission, CBI, and I hope that I will get justice. At this present day I don't want that seat but what I want is that the guily officers should be punished!!!!
